I was supposed to be exploring Cagayan de Oro City on the 49th day of PHL50 but because the National Power Corporation (NPC) Nature's Park was closed to the public during my scheduled visit, I decided to extend my stay in Iligan and just skipped CDO in my itinerary. Maria Cristina Falls is inside the NPC facility and I could not leave the city without seeing it up close.
How to get to Maria Cristina Falls?
Take a Buru-un bound jeep and ask to be dropped off at the bridge near the NPC entrance. Just tell the driver that you are going to visit Maria Cristina Falls and he will surely drop you at the right place. Fare is P12 and travel time is around 15-20 minutes. Entrance Fee to the NPC Park is P35 and a shuttle fee of P10 if you do not have a vehicle.
I left the hostel early so I could explore the Nature's Park a bit. I need to check out at the hostel at 12:00nn so I had to hurry. I arrived at the entrance of the NPC about 10 minutes before 9AM. I had to wait a little bit for the Nature's Park to open. I immediately paid my entrance and shuttle fee and began the tour right away. I was the first visitor of the day.
I was able to finally see Maria Cristina Falls up close. The feeling was surreal because I have been dreaming to see it when I was in my elementary years. It was another dream-come-true experience for me. The falls wasn't in full blast but it was really an amazing experience. I wanted to stay longer but I really had to leave the city soon. So I went back to the city and left bound to CDO.
I had a little time to spend in CDO so I decided to meet my good friend Shugah of Wander Shugah. It was great to catch up with her. Thanks Shugah for the milk tea!
*We do not have a good photo when we met so I took a photo from our recent trip together in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.
