SOCCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos – or SOX) was chosen as the featured region for the Philippines under the Pavilion of Cities of Charm at the recently concluded 13th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXpo) held last September 11-14 in Nanning, Guangxi, China.
It was an opportunity for SOX to shine in the international market by highlighting its tourism and cultural initiatives. It featured ecocultural tourism services, investment packages, and commodity offerings for the home, fashion, food, health, and wellness sectors.
During the expo, a lot of people had their photos taken at the Philippine Pavilion and dance along with the performers. It captured the interest of the Chinese people. In fact, some officials from the Guangxi museum decided to feature T’boli Cultural Icons to their museum and even extended an invitation for a cultural exchange between Guangxi University and SOCCSKSARGEN. The Philippine Pavilion was indeed the most photographed pavilion during the entire duration of CAExpo. It was eventually awarded as the Best National Pavilion at the end of the expo.
Aside from being the National Pavilion Awardee, the Philippine Pavilion also received the Best in Investment Promotion and Best in City of Charms Award.
