Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area is one of the top tourist attractions in Central Taiwan. Each year, this lake attracts millions of visitors both local and foreign tourists. As the name suggests, the lake got its name based on the unique terrains that look like the sun one side and a crescent moon on the other.
There are plenty of hotels around the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area but the one that really stands out is The Lalu. It’s a luxurious hotel with an overlooking view of the impressively beautiful lake.
The Hotel Rooms
There are different types of rooms you can choose when you stay at The Lalu depending on the number of people you are with. The room rate isn’t cheap but it’s worth your hard-earned money. Check rates and availability.
- Lakeview Suites – these are the rooms facing the lake on the higher floors. It has a large living room and offers an unobstructed view of Sun Moon Lake.
- Lakeside Suites – these rooms almost have the same features as the Lakeview Suites except that it is on the lower floors and may not have a full view of the lake.
- Courtyard Suites – these are larger rooms with larger outdoor areas compared to the first two rooms above. The downside is you do not get a view of the lake.
- Courtyard Pool Villas – these villas are ideal for families. Each villa has its own bedroom, a lounge, a courtyard with a 12-meter swimming pool, and an outdoor dining pavilion.
Facilities and Amenities
Lalu Spa and Rejuvenation Center
The Lalu Spa offers both Western and Eastern restorative treatments. If you want to have extra relaxation, then this is something you should try.
Restaurants at the Lalu
The Lalu has four restaurants plus a tea house. The buffet breakfast which is included in the room rates is served at the Oriental Brasserie restaurant located on the 7th floor. The hotel also has a Japanese Restaurant and a Chinese restaurant also situated on the 7th floor. The lobby bar on the 8th floor is my personal favorite. It offers good food and serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The outdoor terrace is a perfect place to unwind while enjoying a drink.
Lalu’s swimming pool features a 60-meter temperature-controlled infinity pool. It has a fantastic view of the lake and a nice view of the tea house. Ideal for IG-worthy shots. This is one of my favorite spots in the hotel. I had to spend an hour here just to take photos.
One of the unique features of The Lalu is its library. It has collections of different types of books and CDs where guests can read in the library or bring to their room.
So, if you want to treat yourself for a luxurious and relaxing vacation, head out to The Lalu Sun Moon Lake! It is about 3 hours drive from Taipei. Aside from the mesmerizing view of the lake, you can also do a lake cruise or visit the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village for more fun and adventure.
