Davao City’s coffee scene is booming. Many of the coffee shops in the City source their coffee beans from local farmers and producers. It ensures traceability of the beans and fair trade with the farmers.

Last week, Davao Digital Influencers, Inc. (DDI) in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Davao Region embark on a Coffee Crawl featuring some of the best coffee shops in Davao City that serve the award-winning Davao Mt. Apo Coffee.

The group has visited eight coffee shops in Davao City serving the best local coffee. They all serve pour-over coffee using Davao Mt. Apo beans as well as other freshly brewed coffee beverages.

Purge Coffee Roaster

Purge Coffee Roaster is one of the popular homegrown coffee shops in Davao City. It is currently my go-to coffee shop because I love their coffee and it is located near me compared to the other ones mentioned on this list.

Located in a residential area in Ecoland, Olo. Coffee and Concepts is a relatively new coffee shop in Davao City offering specialty coffee that you will surely enjoy.

Kanto Coffee

Kanto Coffee is a pop-up coffee shop located outside Abreeza Mall. It serves pour-over Davao Mt. Apo coffee and other coffee beverages like its espresso tonic.

Glasshouse Coffee

Glasshouse Coffee is a specialty coffee shop and roastery in Davao City with branches, one at the Oboza Compound in Rizal St. and the other one at Aeon Towers in Bajada. The former is a small but pretty place to chill and have a good cup of coffee while the latter is bigger with a rustic yet modern vibe. Both branches serve the award-winning Davao Mt. Apo coffee.

Hid’n Coffee Davao

Hid’n Coffee Davao is a newly opened coffee shop in Davao City located at N. Torres St., Palm Village, Obrero (at the back of Abreeza).

Hid’n is owned by a group of friends who are coffee aficionados. They know a lot about coffee and are up to date with the latest trends in specialty coffee. So, whether you want it black or with milk, hot or cold, they’ll get it right for you. Good location and ambiance, too!

Kapeweñoz Specialty Coffee

Founded during the height of the pandemic, Kapeweñoz is owned by an experienced barista, cupper, and roaster, John Rey “Biboy” Plaza. It started as a mobile coffee shop and has later opened a physical shop in Obrero.

Paramount

Paramount Coffee offers locally sourced arabica beans from the highlands of Mt. Apo. It closely keeps an eye on its coffee beans to ensure a high-quality cup of coffee for its patrons.

As mentioned above, all of these coffee shops serve pour-over coffee using Davao Mt. Apo coffee beans. Though all of the Davao beans they are using come from Mt. Apo, they still have different taste notes because of the different elevation, process, and roasting levels. One thing is common though, they’re all fruity with medium to high levels of acidity.
