AirAsia X (AAX) has announced a new era of low-cost travel to Africa! Passengers can now fly directly from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi, Kenya, starting November 15, 2024. This is a major accomplishment for AAX, making them the first Malaysian budget airline with a direct flight to Nairobi.
This exciting new route comes after a strong year for AAX. They’ve seen positive financial results, high passenger numbers, and a return to being a network leader. They also recently launched flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan, their first entry into Central Asia.

The connection between Kuala Lumpur and Nairobi is more than just a new flight; it’s a bridge between continents. AAX hopes this direct route will boost trade, tourism, and business ties between Asia and Africa. Passengers traveling from Nairobi can also take advantage of AAX’s Fly-Thru connections, making travel to over 130 destinations in Southeast Asia, Northern and Central Asia, and Australia more affordable and convenient than ever.
