Crossing the Surigao Strait from Lipata Port to Liloan and vice versa is now easier and faster with FastCat. Travel time has significantly reduced to only two hours from 3-4 hours of the previous regular ferry. (Read: Lipata and San Ricardo (Benit) Ports Schedule of Ferry and Rates)

UPDATE after Typhoon Odette: This route is now operational but as of 4 July 2022, there’s still no fixed schedule. There are currently three (3) shipping companies that operate this route: Montenegro Shipping Lines, Lite Shipping (Lite Ferries), and Santa Clara Shipping. The operation is 24 hours but as mentioned earlier, the schedule is not fixed and will only depend on the arrival of the ferry from the other side.

Montenegro Shipping Lines Lipata-Liloan Ferry Schedule

After typhoon Odette, Montenegro now operates the Lipata to Liloan and Liloan to Lipata route since the San Ricardo Port is still not operational. The travel time is 3 hours. As of now, there is still NO fixed schedule. Make sure you bring a lot of patience. When I purchased a ticket from their counter last July 3, I was told the ferry will depart at 12:00 nn. In reality, it departed at 2:00 pm.

Operated by Archipelago Ferries Corporation (APFC), FastCat links the islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao through its catamaran Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) ferries. It connects Luzon and Visayas via Matnog, Sorsogon and Dapdap and San Isidro in Northern Samar. It also links Visayas and Mindanao via Lipata and Liloan Ports.

    Grabe the worst ferry ever… Nag travel pa ako from butuan to surigao para lang maka tawid sa leyte, pagdating ko sa office nila ang sabi 6pm ang biyahe or 8pm yan na ang daw ang pinaka matagal but the reality lahpas na ng 1am naka biyahe…grabe naman kayo ni compensation sa mga pasahero nyo sa delays “wala”. Tipid pasa electric fan, grabe nagsisi talaga ako na sa inyo ako naka pag booking. Hoping sana na e consider nyo din ang mga pasahero nyo..kung oras, oras talaga…kaya kayo jan if you planning to travel from lipata to liloan…mag isip isip na kayo kung sa Montenegro kayo sasakay.
