Having out with fellow travelers along the gathering areas of Copacabana may be fun. But real travelers who are on an adventure only see this coastal town as a launching to the area’s real tourist destination—the nearby Lake Titicaca.
But knowing Lake Titicaca, it is not just a deep body of water, it also hosts a few landmasses that are themselves make for the highlight across the lake. The island of Uros (floating island) and Taquile are two of the popular islands in the lake.
The easiest way to explore Lake Titicaca is to book a tour online or via travel agency when you arrive in Puno. Below is the usual itinerary that most travelers follow.

7:15 AM to 9:00 AM
The adventure towards the island of Uros starts off rather early in the day. If you are not used to waking up very early due to the habit of staying up late a day prior, better break the habit temporarily to give way for this amazing travel across the waters of Lake Titicaca.
This isle is inhabited which makes it a charted territory. If there is anything note-worthy around this place, it is that the homes of the people native to this island are made from reeds which grow in the area.
9:00 to 12:00 PM
Unlike Uros, the next destination—the island of Taquile—is less known which gives it an emanating mystery, especially for the new travelers of the place. But “mystery” here should not be mistaken as ominous as the visit is actually safe—it is not just as well-disclosed to many people for some reason.
At around 9 in the morning until noon, Taquile makes for a perfect location to absorb all the benefits of the sun’s rays while also taking beautiful imageries in the area to commemorate the visit.
12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Your first few hours towards and within Taquile may still seem more of a mystery to you—and for a good reason. Part of Taquile’s selling point, as it appears, is the mystery it harbors. One good reason about the obscurity of the place is because, for a long while until recently, Taquile was closed off from the rest of the world.
Shedding light in its history and the prevailing culture of the people which chose to inhabit the isle, the next two hours makes for an academic adventure about Taquile as a separate island among its neighboring landmasses.
After lunch, people are allowed to traverse the island’s varying sceneries where they are also given the privilege of taking breath-taking views.
2:30 PM
But like any good adventure, a travel across Taquile also comes to an end at specifically 2:30 in the afternoon. It is here when travelers go back to the boat with Puno as the destination to go back where it all started which makes for an endless cycle, especially for the tour guides which offer their service.
5:00 PM
Having arrived at the intended destination at this point—Punto—the next step is to take you back to your place of stay within the area which is somewhere probably between a hostel or a hotel.
Rest of the Day
You can gallivant around the town, visit the parks, cathedral and the local market. You can end the night by a food trip or by taking an overnight bus to Cusco.
