We arrived in Bukit Merah Laketown Resort past midnight already. We had so much fun at Goreng Goreng in Ipoh so we left the restobar quite late. Everyone was tired so we never had a chance to explore the resort on our first night. After checking in, most of us went to bed immediately as we had to wake up early to do some activities in the resort the next day.
Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is about 3 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur and can easily be reached through Bukit Merah toll exit (Exit 150) using the North-South Expressway. The resort is surrounded by green vegetation and is fronting one of Malaysia’s largest freshwater lake. Check rates and availability.
Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is a premier eco-tourism destination in the northern region. It offers a different variety of activities and amenities ideal for family getaway, teambuilding and leisure holidays.
Activities in Bukit Merah Laketown Resort
On our first day in the resort, we had a kayak race in the lake. Our team won the race because we were so determined to beat the rest of the teams. It was exhausting but we had so much fun.
After the kayak race, we had a short break and went to the Orangutan Island. It’s a short 15 minute boat ride from the resort. We were able to learn more about the Orangutans. It was an educational trip and everyone was in awe seeing the orangutans up close.
After lunch time, we had another short break before embarking on an adrenaline-pumping zipline ride. I tried different types of zipline in the Philippines but the one in Bukit Merah made me a little bit nervous and I almost did not push through. There is no stopper so I had to use my right hand to control the drop. It was really crazy, but it was fun, too.
Gala Dinner
Our second night in the resort was extra special. We had a gala dinner with VIPs from the tourism sector in Perak. I was supposed to wear Barong Tagalog, a Filipino traditional formal wear for men but unfortunately my luggage was missing so I had to use the western style. It was a night full of food and fun!
Water Park
One of the resort’s must-try attractions is the Water Park. It is one of the largest theme park in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia. The attractions in the park include : Boomerang, Sandy Beachfront Wave Pool, Water Speed Slides, Body Slides, Giant Tube Rides, Activity Pool, Lazy River, Perak Mining Company, Kids Adventure River, Jumbo Shower, and Water Pillar. We kinda ran out of time so most of us were not able to experience the park except Natalia and Ruslan. They were able to enjoy the park for a short period of time.
There are still a lot of activities and amenities in the resort but we had a limited time so we were not able to experience all. Overall, it was one great experience staying at Bukit Merah Laketown Resort.
